There are times when we are inspired and times when we are not. There are times when our life is full of hope and times when we feel hopeless. There are times when our life seems to have no future but there are times when our future seems to go on forever. For some of us, Christmas seems to bring on the extremes of joy and depression. When Christ was born into the world, the extremes of love and hate came about as we see in the slaughter of babies upon the news of His birth. During the Christmas season, our feelings of helplessness can be especially intense. What we must remember is the real power of our life is Christ's power in us and not any power of our own. In the times of darkness during the Christmas season we must remember Christ was born so we could have an abiding hope for the future flowing through us. Every hope you have now is your hope given to you by Christ. As you kneel at Christ's manger, His hope flows into you day and night. Every goal, every task, and every purpose of our life should be His goal, His task, and His purpose. Always know the power of your life is not your power but His power within you. Christ's birth into the world gave each of us a life with eternal meaning and eternal purpose. Now, this instant, one minute of your life directed toward Christ's will directs you toward eternity. Now, this instant, one minute of your life filled with His power, filled with His glory, and filled with His love touches Him, just as you would have touched Him as a tiny infant resting in the straw.
