A Prayer About Receiving Life

Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And Ever-present Holy Spirit,
Precious Lord Jesus, I love you.
There are times when I do not think I need you.
When I think my life is my own, I think maybe I do not need you.
However, when I think my life is my own, I sometimes think my life is not worth very much.
Yet when I think about you.
When I kneel at the foot of your cross…
When I look up and see you suffering there for me…
When I realize your suffering on the cross was to give me a new life…
I am overcome with sorrow and grief over what I have done…and the life I have that I think is my own is a life I don't want any more.
Suddenly, when I see my life as the life you died to save, I begin to see your purpose and your plan for me.
Suddenly, when I see my life as the life you died to save, I begin to see my life in new and positive ways.
My life is no longer diminished by my sin.
My life is no longer diminished by the pain and suffering I feel.
My life is suddenly transformed in ways I cannot express.
My life is suddenly transformed into a life with purpose and meaning going beyond my own thoughts and feelings.
My old hungers and old thirsts are no more.
My imperfect thoughts, actions, and deeds are made small as I turn away from them.
My life full of unfilled wants and needs is gone.
For in you and from you, O Lord, my wants and needs are now directed to you and my only want is to do your will
My only need is to be your humble child.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can rely. Amen
