A Daily Devotional About a chance to grow: Luke 13:6 Then he told this parable:
"A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for
fruit on it, but did not find any. 7 So he said to the man who took care of the
vineyard, `For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig
tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?' 8
"`Sir,' the man replied, `leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig
around it and fertilize it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then
cut it down.' "(NIV) Our soul, by itself, cannot
sustain itself in the eyes of God. Christ came to give us nutritional
supplements and food for our soul. Christ came to stir up our life and add
nutrients to our soul. Christ is the gardener who goes before God and pleads
with God to give each of us one more moment. During that moment, Christ
continually tries to give us His vital nutrients of peace, love, forgiveness,
and mercy to help us grow. Each of us is like the non-producing fig tree. Of
course, Christ does not know whether you will accept Him. However, Christ still works
day and night on your behalf to save you from being cut down and thrown into the
fire. We are all to bear fruit. We are all put on this earth to give God the
glory for His reality. We have free will to determine how we will bear fruit and
lead our life
each day. |
