A Daily Devotional About a sound faith: 2 Timothy 1:13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. (NIV) The soundness of your faith is up to you. God does not make a person faithful. God can do works in a person's life of increasing faith, but even with great miracles sent to embolden your faith, keeping your faith alive is your job, not God's. The underpinning or foundation of faith is love held in place by a constant connection to the Holy Spirit. Each day you must exert your will to hold fast to God's truth. You must exert your will to keep His love alive within your heart. You must exert your will to keep your seed of faith nourished and ready for new growth. In exerting your will, all the power you muster up is of no consequence unless you access the real powerthe power of God. Through the Holy Spirit, your connection to Christ can give you rest in the storms. Through the Holy Spirit, you can find help when the darkness comes. With a sound faith, you are able to love others as He loves you. With a sound faith, hope begets hope, and hope fuels your every moment. With a sound faith, you know someday soon you will see Him face to face. With a sound faith, you know you are truly loved by God. |
