A Christmas Devotional About
the blessings of faith at Christmas: Proverbs
28:20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not
go unpunished. (NIV) Our Christmases take on added meaning and purpose when we are faithful to Christ and to His teachings. Our love for Christ becomes more real when we think of His birth, the appearance of the shepherds, and the appearance of the wise men. When we believe Christ was born and died for us, our belief adds immensely to all our Christmas preparations and celebrations. For the true believer in Christ, Christmas is not just another holiday, nor is Christmas just another day on the calendar. For the true believer in Christ, Christmas is full of joy and peace because Christ's birth was the beginning of Christ's reign in the hearts of all humanity. Christ's birth was the will of God. When the will of God is done, blessings flow. When we observe Christ's birth in reverence, love, and awe, then blessings flow into our heart and life. When we read the scripture about His birth, the words of God flow into our heart and the Lord's blessings cover us as we stand at His manger. The blessings of our faith help us and support us, not just as we celebrate Christ's birth, but our faith helps us at all times and in all circumstances. Christ was born to bring us light in our darkness. When we have faith and believe in Him, the darkness of our life is dispelled and made as if the darkness never was. Christ was born to bring us peace on earth. When we have faith in Him, His peace flows down over our life and we can indeed proclaim for us, there is peace on earth. Our faithfulness brings us hope for the future and God's love helps guide us all the days of the year. |
