A Christmas Devotional About
Christ as our source of peace on Earth: 1
Corinthians 1:3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ. (NIV) The earth does not have peace. The weather on earth has storms, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, and typhoons. The physical earth has earthquakes and volcanoes. In the life of persons, families, states, and nations there is conflict, turmoil, and war. In the middle of this upheaval, God sent His Son as a newborn baby to bring us peace. We cannot go to His manger scene and hold Him in our arms except in our imagination. However, we do not have to imagine the peace He brings because we can have His peace right now right where we are. In the turmoil and conflict so often scaring the hearts and lives of human beings, there is one source for eternal peace and the source is Jesus. A baby born two thousand years ago in a stinking cave where animals were kept is the prince of peace. We may never know His peace in its fullness as we live our life here on planet Earth. However, we can look forward to a day when we will be totally absorbed and totally consumed by His peace in Heaven. Christmas is celebrated as the occurrence of an earthly event. However, Christmas is about the reality of Heaven coming down to earth pointing our heart back up to Heaven where peace is infinite and eternal. |
