A Christmas Devotional About Christ's gift of power to know his majesty: Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (NIV) There are babies born in squalor and filth every minute. There is no majesty in this kind of birth. Christ the King, Christ the King of earth and all creation, was born in a stinking stable. There was no earthly majesty in Christ's birth, but there was spiritual majesty visited upon all of us. So much majesty from Heaven was poured out upon all of us, the angels in Heaven sang out. The King of all creation, the actual Son of God, was tortured and crucified on a cross for the sins of all. There was no earthly majesty in Christ's cruel torture and death. However, there was spiritual majesty the day He arose from the dead. Your life, your life full of sin, mistakes, and rebellion is not full of majesty. However, the hour you first believed, the hour you first turned away from the natural you in favor of being a repentant child of God, the hour you first believed was full of majesty. There will be no earthly majesty the hour we take our last earthly breath. However, a fraction of a fraction of a second after our spirit leaves our body, the heavens will welcome us and there will an abundance of spiritual majesty when we get to see Jesus face to face. Christ's spiritual majesty, the grandest of majesties, is the reason we celebrate Christ's birth. Christ's precious gift to each of us is His gift of power to know His majesty. |
