A Daily Devotional About the common sense of prayer: 2 Kings 20: 4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5 "Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, `This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. (NIV) If you have a friend, a true friend, you should talk to this person. You do not have much of a friendship if you never communicate with the person in some way. Over the years, we can lose track of people or we only write to them in our Christmas cards. In Jesus, in God, in the Holy Spirit, we have a friend. To never talk to Him, does not make sense. When you talk to God, He listens. When you have a bad day and feel really lousy, it makes sense to tell your friend in Christ about how things are going. Yes, He knows how things went during the day, but He still needs you to talk to Him so you will be closer to Him. When you are afraid, go to Christ and talk to Him. When you are angry, even angry at Him, talk to Him. With God, you can talk about anything. No matter what you have done, no matter what mistakes you have made, no matter whatyou can talk to God. God will never turn His back on you. God will never turn a deaf ear to you. God always listens, always understands, and always cares. The more you talk to Him, the closer you are to Him. |
