About giving our lives…
1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love
is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives
for our brothers. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in
need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? (NIV)
Jesus loved us so much He
laid down His life for us. Christ also wants us lay down our life for others.
However, we cannot truly lay down our life for others unless we have surrendered
and laid down our life before Christ on the Cross. We must learn we are to
surrender our all for Christ. We must learn we must give up our life and make
the supreme sacrifice for Him. If we do not lose our life for Christ, we will
not have a life. The very call of sacrifice for others, the idea of sacrificing
our life to save another, baffles and puzzles those who do not know Christ.
Conversely, criminals and terrorists and those like them are willing to die to kill others.
Christian ideology calls us to give up our life to save another. Until we can
give our all, until we can give our life to Christ and for Him, we are but
pretenders in the faith. As we live each day, we must remember our footsteps,
our breathing, our every thought and motion is never to be about us…our whole
life is to
be about Christ our Savior.
