A Daily Devotional About the nature of God.. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 For many people God remains only a distant idea, a foggy notion of some far away being, or an invisible old man sitting in the sky on a golden throne. God cannot be defined as we define brick and mortar. God cannot be measured, evaluated, or assessed like we measure, evaluate, or assess real estate. In our physical reality He is not physically reachable or touchable by our physical hands. On the surface we think God is not reachable or touchable. But with our heart, our soul, and our spirit, God can be grasped and held onto. God can be touched. God is reachable. God is knowable. When we reach out to God, what we must reach out for is love. When we try and touch God we must try and touch love because God is love. Love is the substance of God. When we come to really and truly know God we come to really and truly know love. When we reach out to touch God we must trust Him. We must trust, believe, and hold in our heart a "knowing" He will always be there for us. This "knowing" is what we call faith. This "knowing" is what makes the love of God…the love that IS God, a reality inside of us. |
