A Daily Devotional About greed: 1 Timothy 6:9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (NIV) The love of money makes people do things they would not ordinarily do. Greed turns a respectable person into a person who would do things we do not consider respectable. Greed, in all its forms, destroys a person's soul as the greed drives the person away from God. Money has power. The paper or metal used to make money has no power, but the power the money represents corrupts the soul. The power of money makes us want to keep things for ourselves rather than giving or surrendering them to God. The power of money makes us want to keep our life for ourselves rather than humbly give our life to Christ. |
