A Daily Devotional About honesty: Mark 9:24 Immediately the
boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
(NIV) The above verse contains a statement of incredible honesty. We are honest when we say we have both belief and unbelief. We are honest when we say we believe but we do not believe. To own up to our faults, mistakes, misgivings, and our poor ability to believe requires incredible honesty. When we are honest and own up to our lack of faith, we can deal with our lack of faith. Our honesty in all matters reaches the heart of God. Honesty produces a great blessing from God in our life. For some people, honesty with God is incredibly difficult. Some people try to play a game of hide and seek with God, thinking they can pretend things are fine hoping God will not know the truth. Some people try to keep secrets from God. Some people try to go through the motions before God, hoping God will see how intent they are even when they are dishonest with Him. God needs you to be honest with Him, not for Himself, but for you. God needs you to be honest with Him so when you say you cannot believe, He will smile upon you. Then, in His special way, He will give you the reason, the experience, and the power to believe. |
