About standing on your feet… Acts 26:13 About noon, O
king, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun,
blazing around me and my companions. 14 We all fell to the ground, and I heard a
voice saying to me in Aramaic, `Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard
for you to kick against the goads.' 15 "Then I asked, `Who are you, Lord?'
" `I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' the Lord replied. 16 `Now get up
and stand on your feet. (NIV) God did not create us to
slither on the ground like a snake. He did not create us to walk on all four
limbs like many animals. God did not create us to be aquatic beings like fish
living in water. God created us to stand up on our feet and walk upright. We are
not only to stand upright on our feet in a physical sense, but we are to also
stand upright on our feet spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. We are called
to stand upright on our feet, because as God's servants, we are better servants
when we are strong than when we are weak. As God's servants we are best able to
serve God when we walk upright rather than stooping over in defeat and failure.
When we are God's servants, we are not to let ourselves remain defeated and
knocked down in our life. If we are defeated and knocked down in our life, we
are to stand up and come back against the opponent. As God's servants, we are
not to carry a self-image of defeat or failure. As His servants, we are to stand
upright because we are winners in Christ. Although our outward life may appear
to be a failure to the world, our inner life is to be lived as the victors and
winners we are in Christ Jesus. |
