A Daily Devotional Written By God About taking hold of the hope… And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. † Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. † If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, † but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. † In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. † And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord 's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, † because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." † Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. † God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. † We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, † where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
