A Daily Devotional About dark times when God seems far away… James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. (NIV) Most of us have times when God seems far away. In the darkest hours of our life, God can seem so distant He seems not to exist. In the dark times, in the times when pain and suffering ravage our soul, we are to do all we can to come near to God. When we experience a distance from God, regardless of the reason, we are to be humble before Him. We are to be honest with Him. We are to tell God we cannot reach Him. We are to tell God we love Him and we need Him. In our pain, when we throw off our ego, when we throw off our selfishness, then Christ will come to us and He will be near to us. When we send our love to God, then God sends His love back to us. When we are weak and heavy-laden, when we seem too weak to throw away our dark times, then all we need to do is be honest with Christ and He will help us. Christ did not come into the world to leave you alone. Christ came into the world to be your constant friend and companion. Christ came into the world so you would know He is real and so you would know He loves you in the most powerful way. |
