A Daily Devotional About worry and not being a prophet: Luke 21:14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. (NIV) To hold on to our worries, we must think of ourselves as really good prophets. When we worry, we predict some form of doom in our future. Indeed, there may be doom in our future. In our future there may be an ultimate doom scenario. However, to let what may happen tomorrow destroy our happiness, contentment, and peace today is not what God wants for us or wants from us. If you are going to predict the future, look back at your past history of predictions and see how inaccurate you have been. To worry about the future and not know the future gains you nothing. You can stop worrying by stop predicting the doom of the future. To stop worrying, then stop walking around with the doom of the future on your mind all the time. If you must predict the future, predict a sure thing. In your future, predict the wonders and incredible beauty of heaven. For sure and for certain, your future is totally secured in Christ. In Christ, you will be taken care of in the future. In Christ, your future is full of joy and happiness. Further thoughts about worry: Your mind is like a pair of binoculars. Use your mental binoculars to see into the future and see Christ in Heaven waiting for you. Your mind is like a controller. Use your mental controller to bring peace and calm in the storms of your worry and doubt. Your heart can bring transformation. Instead of worry on your heart, place your desire to be holy, godly, and righteous no matter what happens in the future. Your heart is movable. When your heart is full of worry, send your heart upward to God. |
