A Daily Devotional
About being caught up with Christ:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words. (NIV)
The events described in this verse are the events some call the "rapture." However, no matter what we call this event, the circumstances surrounding our ascending into heaven will be of little consequence compared to what we experience in heaven.
Our trip to heaven, our travel from earth to heaven, is nothing compared to the eternal joy and perfect peace of heaven.
Our trip to heaven leading to eternal happiness will be hardly noticed because we will see for the very first time the bright and shining light of love beaming down upon us from the throne of God.
Our earthly road toward eternal life is not just an empty promise of eternal lifeour earthly road is made of Christ's personal promise to us. On our earthly road made by God we can look forward to actually living forever and being forever young. At the end of our earthly road we will be caught up with Christ. We will be surrounded and enraptured in His love and His care for all time. No dark chains of earth will hold us back. No painful ties will keep us down. We will sail home to power and energy lasting forever. We will not be deterred. We will not be disappointed. All our hopes and dreams will come true.
