A Christmas Daily Devotional

About wonderful Joseph…

Matthew 1:24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. (NIV)

No questions asked.
No second thoughts.
No wondering.
No questioning.
No doubts.
No misgivings.
No demanding to see a payoff.
No demand to see what was in it for Joseph.
No further regard for social conventions.
No further regard for any embarrassment to himself or to Mary.
Just obedience.
Just plain, simple, compliance and obedience by Joseph.

Is it any wonder God chose Mary and Joseph? When God says to you, "Go over there and do such and such," do you go? When you rest all your cares upon the Lord and He tells you to stop resting and start doing, do you? Or do you, like many among us, think the will of God is really a suggestion and not a command? Do you, like many among us, try to take a command from God and turn the command into some kind of option with multiple choices about what you can do if you decide to do anything at all? Wonderful Joseph did not have our issues. Wonderful Joseph did not have our problems. Thank you, O Lord, for choosing wonderful Joseph.
