A Christmas Daily Devotional

About hope eternal in the manger

Psalms 121:3 O Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore. (NIV)

We seek hope in many ways. We seek hope in political leaders and institutions. We seek hope in our inventions and creations. However, we will always be disappointed in placing our hope in anything or anyone except Christ. Christ is, was, and will always be the hope of the world. We have no way of living forever without Christ. The eternal hope of mankind was born in a stinking, dirty stable where animals were kept. Our hope is in Christthe most humble of humble beings. Our hope is in Christthe essence of pure love unmatched on earth. As dark and dreary as our life might be on earth in our present hour, the little babe in the manger came giving us a hope to enlighten us and lift us up for eternity. In Christ, our hope will never fail. In Christ, our desire to see eternal joy will always be fulfilled. In Christ, our hope for a new day of healing will be made into a reality of beauty beyond our comprehension.
