A Christmas Daily Devotional
About our living God as a
baby:
Rev
21:3 "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They
will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He
will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or
crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (NIV)
What kind of all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God would appear as a helpless baby? God almighty appearing as a helpless baby is a ludicrous or goofy idea according to the way the world works. If He wanted to change the world, why would God choose a helpless baby? Wouldn't it be more appropriate for God to appear in a statement of ultimate power? The world would certainly respect a statement of ultimate power. However, God is not interested in getting the world to do His will by force, intimidation, coercion, or pressure. Sending the baby Jesus to us was God's way of showing human beings God loves us. God wants us to come to Him freely without any kind of pressure except the pressure from our conscience and heart speaking to us in love. Sending us a helpless baby has the effect of opening our heart and soul to the reality of Godthe reality of Christ's love and grace.
