A Christmas Daily Devotional

About being beside the manger and beneath the cross:

The Story Of Our Lord's Birth

At Christmas, or at any time of the year, we need to put aside our worldly wants and ask ourselves, "What does Jesus want today?" Can we find the courage to ask this question, and when we find the answer give Him what He wants? If we give Jesus what He wants throughout the year, we will find the way to true happiness as we become a true blessing to Him. In truth, what Jesus wants this year is you. He wants the real you, the honest you, the broken, hurting, dirty, imperfect, sin-plagued you. Why? Why would Christ want someone so imperfect and plagued with sinfulness? The answer..is because He loves you and all other persons on the face of His earth. Jesus has a forgiving heart, always desiring to forgive and wipe away all your transgressions. When you give the Master Carpenter your sinful, broken self, He has the opportunity to do what He likes best to dorepair you and make you new. Let us give Him our sinful selves so He may wash away all of our unrighteousness. Do you not see the irony here? Do you not see the irony of our having murdered Him but He gives us His love through eternal life in return? You see, when we kneel beside His manger in holy worship, you must also be kneeling at the foot of His cross in holy contrition.
