A Christmas Daily Devotional

At the time of Christ's birth, the power of God was displayed in ways we do not normally associate with power. Think about it. God coming into the world as a baby!?!? In the world, then as now, power is not displayed as a helpless babe. God had incredible options at His disposal before sending Christ into our world. God could have caused a world-wide mental, spiritual, or physical earthquake. God could have sent every person a vision of some kind. However, our God is not like the world. Our God does not force us or coerce us into believing, hoping, and trusting in Him. At the time of Christ's birth, only a handful of people knew of Christ being born. Even with just a handful of people knowing, there was an immediate reaction from the power structure resulting in the slaughter of innocent children. Yet, let us look at the outcome of Christ's birth. The outcome of His birth, although we do not always see or understand God's workings, changed and continues to change the world. Christ was born in the worst of places, under the worst of circumstances. Although born in truly humble circumstances Christ has triumphed and so can you. The power of God is not to be tampered with or manipulated for selfish reasons. To tamper with God's power, we do so at our peril. God is love. His power is love. Christ came into the world because God loves us and will never stop loving us. Indeed, to find the power, we must find Christ and Him only.
