A Christmas Daily Devotional

About a spirit of gratitude for His birth:

Psalms 72:18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. 19 Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen (NIV)

Thinking first about our own life and issues is easy. Taking everything we have in life for granted is easy. Taking Christmas for granted is easy. However, the joy of Christmas comes to those who pour out their heart to God in a spirit of thanksgiving and praise. When we praise God for bringing Christ to us then we are very close to standing next to Him resting in the manger. If we were transported back in time to the manger scene with Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus, and all we did was just look upon the glory of the manger scene without any appreciation, joy, or thanksgiving for Christ, we would have no joy. However, if we stood next to Him resting in the hay with our heart bursting with praise and thanksgiving, our joy would overflow, our eyes would fill with the tears of our joy, and we would fall on our knees in humble adoration. When we are overwhelmed with praise and thanksgiving we come closest to the heart of God. When we are overwhelmed with praise and thanksgiving for God's little gift to us in the form of the Christ-child we find our spirit soaring into the heavens. Praise God for sending Christ to us! Praise God for His love! Praise Christ for stooping down so low to save us!
