About being filled with the light of the Christ-child:

Isaiah 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. (NIV)

All of us carry darkness. Darkness is a part of every human's life experience. Our darkness comes at us in the form of sadness, pain, loneliness, painful memories, and from a thousand other sources. In addition, we carry the darkness of our sin. However, all of us can be filled with the light of the Christ-child. The star of Bethlehem was only a tiny flicker of light compared to the light of Christ sent to us by His father in Heaven. The light of Christ is not like the light of the star guiding the shepherds. Neither is the light of Christ like any light made by human beings. The light of the Christ-child is the light of His love taking away the sin of the world. The light of the Christ-child is a light that takes away our darkness. In the dark emptiness of our soul there can be a bright light filling up the emptiness. The light filling up our dark emptiness is Christ's light of love and life.
