A Christmas Devotional

About how evil and darkness are plotting against us…

Matthew 2:5 "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: 6 " `But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'" 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. Christ is our great shepherd. From the time of His birth, evil and darkness were trying to kill Him. Evil and darkness were working in secret to find Him and slay Him. From this record in the gospel we can learn in our life there is evil, darkness, and temptation always plotting against us. Evil and darkness are plotting our death. Evil lurks in the shadows but we who have accepted Christ have no fear, anxiety, or doubt. We know in the very center of our being our great Shepherd has saved us and given us immortality in our spirit.
