A Christmas Devotional
About how things started
Matthew 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about (NIV)
The birth of Jesus and the events occurring before His birth were not ordinary but were indeed extraordinary. In a secular sense, the story of the birth of Jesus is unbelievable. In a spiritual sense, the birth of Jesus is believable only by those persons willing to believe. In a real sense, every day of our life is dominated by what we are willing to believe. What are we willing to believe about the future of the world's leaders? What are we willing to believe about His second coming? What are we willing to believe about our personal future in the next few days, the next few weeks, and the next few years? What we are willing to believe begins to seep into our life in sometimes unrecognized ways. If we are willing to believe the worst about our future, then all of us recognize the worst is most likely to happen to us. If we are willing to believe the best about our future, then all of us recognize the best is more likely to happen to us. How we start out each day can have a dramatic impact upon the rest of our day. What each of us must recognize is every day of our life can have the spirit of hope, the spirit of life, and the joy Christmas brings to us. We can enjoy the spirit of hope, life, and joy by starting our day believing Christ was born and He died so we can each look forward to earthly days and a heavenly eternity full hope, life, and joy.
