A Christmas Devotional

About lighting up the world�

John 1:7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. (NIV)

Christmas is a time of lights. We light up our buildings, our homes, our trees, and our many decorations. In the same way we light up our world at Christmas, we are also to light up our world by how we live our life. Christ came into the world and was the light of the world. As His children and as His ambassadors, we are to keep His light in the world. One of the best ways we keep His light in the world is to keep giving. We need to keep giving, not just at Christmas, but every day, all year long. When we are giving persons, whatever darkness might be lurking around us disappears. We make the darkness disappear because when we give in love we give Christ. As friends and family gather together during the Christmas season we have an opportunity to let His light shine in our life as we give in His name.
