A Christmas Devotional

About pledging our lives�

Matthew 1:18 �pledged to be married�(NIV)

Mary and Joseph had not been formally joined in the union of marriage when Mary discovered she was to give birth to Jesus. Mary and Joseph had pledged to each other they would remain faithful to each other in all ways until their wedding day. In a similar way, each of us pledges to God we will be faithful to Him in all ways until we see Him face to face in Heaven. Joseph considered breaking the engagement pledge when he discovered Mary was expecting a baby. Joseph's faithfulness to God and to Mary was tested. In the same way, our faithfulness to God is tested on a continuing basis. What we must always recognize is Joseph's willingness to remain faithful to God and to Mary was rewarded. In turn, Joseph's reward was then extended to the whole world. What we sometimes miss in our day to day grind of life is the enormous impact our life has upon others and then upon still others. We can easily think our life is not important. However, the truth is we can all impact the world. We can all spread Christ's joy, spread His peace, and spread His love to others. In each of our lives, every day can be a day of giving. We need not wrap our gifts in Christmas wrapping paper. Instead, we can all wrap our daily gifts in the wrapping of His love and grace.
