A Christmas Devotional
About
the will of God and Christ's birth:
Matthew
5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those
who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are
the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for
they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons
of God. (NIV)
Our Lord God, the father of the baby Jesus, the being who is also the Holy Spiritcreated a spark within all of us. Our spirit or soul came into existence as a result of God wanting and God willing for us to exist. God has placed His will on every person. Every person has a spark of the divine or spark of God in them. By populating the earth with His spark in us, God has spread His will over all of the earth. By bringing Christ into the world, God also brought His love and goodness into the world. God's will is for any person who looks upon Christ to see in the love and goodness of God in their heart. God's will is for you to see in Christ's eyes a new day full of hope extending out into your eternal life. By holding the Christ-child within your heart, God wants your heart to melt down and turn away from being selfish. When you hold the baby Jesus in your arms, God wills your heart to change in such a way you come to live each day to do only good and wonderful acts for others and for Him. When God caused Jesus to be born, God wanted every human being to have a heart bringing forth His peace on earth. When Jesus was born on the first Christmas, God wanted Christ's birth to bring an end to war. By causing Jesus to be born, God willed for all of us to live out a holy and devout life. Through Christ's birth, God's will was to give us a person we could more easily talk to every day by spending time in prayer. Obviously, we have fallen short of His will for us. However, God is forgiving. Although we have fallen short of His will for us, He will forgive us if we turn away from the evil and darkness in our heart. After we have turned away from the evil and darkness in our heart we can then hold Him and treasure Him all the more.
