A Daily Devotional
About endurance for Christ:
Psalms 69:6 May those who hope in you not
be disgraced because of me, O Lord, the LORD Almighty; may those who seek you
not be put to shame because of me, O God of Israel. 7 For I endure scorn for
your sake, and shame covers my face. 8 I am a stranger to my brothers, an alien
to my own mother's sons (NIV)
There are times in our life when we may be scorned and made fun of because of our faith. The young person in a public school setting can feel persecution more than do most adults. However, even adults who deeply love Christ can feel the sting of rejection. Often, the people right next to us like our family or immediate circle of friends, may not be Christians. The people to whom we have the strongest ties, may, in some cases, be the persons who turn their back on us. We must remember in all circumstances we must endure. We must never give up. We must never give in. We must endure not as if we are suffering, but we must endure in joy, hope, and anticipation our friends and family will one day love and accept Christ as we do. When we endure, our endurance also means we still love others in a way others understand and accept. Enduring for Christ speaks to others in the language of Christ's love in ways others accept. Enduring for Christ means we are willing to meet others where they live rather than expecting others to meet us where we live. Enduring does not mean we are to live with a face drawn up in a frown from our being unhappy. Enduring means we beam out with His love, care, mercy, and grace in happiness.
