About exerting yourself toward prayer:

1 Chronicles 16:11 Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. (NIV)

We are not supposed to wait for the right mood to pray. When you do not feel like praying then you are to pray anyway. When you are sick and you do not feel well then you are to pray anyway. When you are tired then you are to pray anyway. When you are fed up with things then you are to pray anyway. When your mind is full of your worldly worries or spiritual worries then you are to pray anyway. The right time to pray is always right now. The right place to pray is always right where you are. The whole idea here is to exert yourself to pray and to exert yourself in prayer. We must never let our outside circumstance or our inner circumstance come between us and God in our prayer life. We are to exert ourselves in prayer every day, several times a day, for as long as we live.
