About Peter’s faltering faith…

Matthew 14:29 – 31 Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

In another devotional you will find the following statement, "If you reach out to Him, He will always reach out to you and touch you." Peter had a faith but Peter's faith wavered like the high waves of the sea. Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and started watching the waves. The waves intimidated and threatened Peter’s life. At that point Peter began to sink. However, what is most important to remember is what happened next. Peter reached out to Jesus. Peter might not have reached out with his hand but Peter certainly reached out with his heart and soul. When you reach out to Jesus, He reaches back…every time, every place, every circumstance. Some people reach out to Jesus only at their moments of desperation and fear as did Peter. Our faith shouldn’t be this way. However, this is the way we live out our faith. What we must remember is when we reach out to Jesus, He reaches back. Even when Christ wants the undivided attention of your life and you are looking elsewhere, He is still faithful and will reach out to you when you reach out to Him.
