A Daily Devotional
About the freedom in forgiving
Psalms 103:11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
To not forgive is to live in a self-imposed prison. To hold grudges and grievances corrupts the soul. To carry scores of any kind of wrongs done against us makes us a loser on life's scorecard. Forgiving others frees us of the burden we bear when we are not forgiving. Forgiving others releases us from the terrible ball and chain we attach to ourselves when we hold others to account for wrongs committed against us. If we will forgive others, Christ will forgive us. You should be the first to forgive. When you are the first to forgive, your being first to forgive sends a clear message to Christ you are real, genuine, and want above all things to live in the freedom of His truth. In our efforts to be forgiving, we must learn we are fully forgiven by Christ. If we will accept how much Christ loves us, loves us so much He will erase, totally, completely, and forever, all our sins, how can we not then forgive others.
