A Daily Devotional
About God's gentle voice:
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice! 5
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious
about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. (NIV)
Your world can be incredibly
mean, cruel, harsh, rude, and crude. Depending upon where you live and work,
your daily life can be beset by harshness. So harsh are some person's lives, so
mean and crude is their daily existence, anything gentle is made fun of,
ridiculed, or avoided altogether. Because we live in a harsh, rude, and crude
world, we live in an enormous amount of personal pain and suffering. In each
person's life, we have emotional and physical pain needing the gentle voice of
God. In our suffering, the gentle voice of God comes to us and tells us everything will work out.
In our suffering, the gentle voice of God tells us all things will have a hope-filled ending. The
world may make fun of gentleness and ridicule the gentle nature of our God. The
world may make fun of gentleness and ridicule those of us who seek to be gentle.
However, people need gentleness. No matter how mean, cruel, harsh, rude, and
crude someone may seem to be, inside each person is a heart God's voice wants to
reach.
