About
God's insulation for the hurt done to you:
Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when
they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (NIV)
Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their
trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (KJV)
Hurts and scars from the past can destroy you in the present. Although hurts and scars from the past are nothing except thoughts, these thoughts, when brought to mind, can take you back in time and make the present as if the circumstances of yesterday are happening in the immediate moment. Why we would want to hurt ourselves over and over by bringing up hurtful thoughts of our past can be baffling. In many cases, hurtful thoughts of the past can be so dominant our thinking may seem we have no choice but to think about these hurtful thoughts. However, we have a choice when it comes to dealing with the hurts and scars of the past. We can, with the power of Christ Jesus, put insulation between us and the hurts and scars of the past. This does not mean the hurts and scars go away. The insulation from Christ can put the hurts and scars on the outside where they belong instead of letting the hurts and scars live on the inside where they can continually hurt us and keep us in pain. The insulation you must use is composed of three layers. The three layers of insulation are a willingness to let go of your hurt from the past, the presence of God, and forgiveness.
Your first layer of insulation is your willingness to let go. You must be willing to let go of your past. Many times the hurts and scars of our past have become so ingrained in us we think we cannot let go. Hurts from the past can become so ingrained in us these hurts in our heart and soul become a part of our inner being, like a friend no one would likelike a friend even the person with the hurts and scares does not like. You must be willing to let go, then you MUST let go. This layer of insulation is mandatory without exception.
Your second layer of insulation is forgiveness. You must be forgiving, even forgiving of the hurts and scars put upon you by the most grievous circumstances. This layer of insulation is mandatory without exception.
The third layer of insulation is the presence of God and His love. Forgiveness without God is possible. However, you may not be able to maintain your forgiveness without God. Without the total cleansing, without the total separation of your hurts and scars through forgiveness in the hands of Jesus, your forgiveness can falter, your hurtful memories can come back, and you would need to try and forgive all over again. However, with God's love pouring down upon you, you can forgive. With Christ's hands upon you, you can completely and totally forgive. With Christ's hands upon you, you can be free of the chains of your painful memory forever. You must insert this layer of insulation. This layer is mandatory without exception.
With these three layers of insulation installed, you are free, and free indeed.
