About having life:

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (NIV)

If you drive a car, you make sure you have enough gasoline in the tank to get you from wherever you are to wherever you want to go. If you run out of gasoline while you are on the road, you have a major problem. Our life energy is like gasoline. Our life energy gives us the energy and power to keep going in life just as gasoline gives our car energy and power. When our life energy runs low we begin to run down. When our life energy runs out, we are no longer alive. When we realize we are powerless to keep our life energy from coming to an end, our human hope can vanish. When we do not have Christ we have an existence devoid of hope and promise. When we do not have Christ we have a life condemned to death. Without Christ we sit and wait for the grim reaper to come and take us down. However, we have a hope in Christ. Christ is the wellspring of our life. Christ gives us hope and promise. Christ sustains our life. When we have Christ living and alive within us, we have a life. When we have Christ living and alive within us, we have a good life even when we face battles and trials here on earth. When we have Christ, we are eternally alive, eternally at peace, and eternally fueled up to take on the many burdens we carry each day.
