Some people can be overburdened with too many internal rules to follow. Sometimes, these people even try to impose their internal rules and regulations on others around them. Having internal rules to follow is a great asset in a person's life. However, to have so many rules to follow a person does not have any freedom to be or freedom to express themselves as a child of God is a tremendous hindrance in a person's life. Even worse, a person carrying the burden of too many internal rules to follow can try to be an enforcer of rules for others. In Christ, we have freedom. This does not mean we do not have rules to follow in our Christian life. Indeed, as Christians, we are very likely to impose more rules of conduct upon our behavior than those persons who are not believers. What is important here is the rules of Christ are not meant to be oppressive, but liberating. The rules of Christ are not meant to be weakening, but empowering. To be sure, Christ wants us to look forward to an eternal life with Him not by the rules we follow but by our fully surrendering our life to Him.
