A Daily Devotional
About
honoring and loving God:
Acts
We are to honor and love God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our might. We are to take everything we have within us and send all we are up, up, up, up outside of ourselves to Godin honor and love for Him. When we pray, we must pray in honor and in love for Him. When we pray, we must pray in honor and love for God for the life of others and for His will to be done rather than our will to be done. In honoring and loving God, we are to put aside whatever we want. We are to put what we need aside. We are to put all of our life aside as we honor and love Him. Although putting what we want aside in order to love God may sound impossible, putting what we want and need aside is a necessity of the Christian life. We must honor and love God both with our behavior and with who we are. We must honor and love God in all of our everyday activities. We must honor and love God every second we are alive. Looking at the world, most of the world could care less about truly loving and honoring God. In addition, each of us fails to honor and love Him. Sometimes we fail miserably to do God's will in sending Him honor and love. However, even when we fail miserably, we can still honor and love God in our failure by telling Him the truth, by admitting our mistakes to Him, and by opening our heart up to receive His forgiveness and understanding. Although there are benefits to honoring and loving God, wanting the benefits of honoring and loving God runs directly opposite to the reasons for giving Him our heart in honor and love.
