A Daily Devotional

About a joy that is complete…

John 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Happiness wells up within you when you are obedient. Happiness comes to an athlete who stays within the boundary lines of the sport and who obeys the rules of the sport. With God, as you remain in God’s love, happiness springs up out of your heart. This joy springing up out of you is unmatched in all the world. There is no joy like the joy of being in God’s love. Even when you are in terrible distress, this joy of God’s love brings you a peace beyond human understanding. Jesus tells us, in a sense, to stay within the lines, follow the rules, and stay the course. His end result is your joy and happiness.
