A Daily Devotional

About love, prophecy, knowledge, and faith:

1 Corinthians 13:2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (NIV)

Your world loves a show. You love a show. We all love to see the spectacular and mind-boggling exhibitions of power regardless of the source of the power. You want to know the future and are awed by the power of a person to predict what is in the future. You are awed by the power of the mind to understand what seems to be beyond our knowing. You are amazed and perhaps bedazzled by seeing the power of faith working in a person's life. Yet in all these things, something is missing. All these displays are just a show. What is so often missing is love. Shows come and go. The memory of a show may inspire, but the show ends. However, love goes on forever. Love can be the substance of every moment. Love makes every moment worth living. Love does not need a show. You need Love and Love needs you.
