A Daily Devotional
About receiving grace:
Romans 5:17 . For if, by the trespass of
the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who
receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign
in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. (NIV)
We receive grace and we receive the gift of righteousness because of the decisions we make. We cannot buy grace and righteousness at a discount store. We cannot go to a school, a church, an office, or an institution site and get grace. We cannot "get" or buy anything of God. With God, we must receive. We must be able to open our heart, mind, and soul into a receiving position to receive whatever God wants to give us. Receiving implies an opening of our heart, mind, and soul. Positioning our heart, mind, and soul requires we totally abandon all material things. Our worldly physical bills, our worldly physical money, or our fear of poverty do not enslave us in chains. We are enslaved by the greed and selfishness money brings. We cannot possess what is in the world and what is from heaven at the same time. We cannot possess grace and money at the same time because money will put our soul into prison. Grace is found only by abandoning the worldly chains of financial slavery.
