About rejecting compliments or praise
Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. (NIV)
Humility is one thing. Self-humiliation is another. We are better off when we say "Thank you" and let a compliment go rather than rejecting the compliment. When we reject others compliments or praise, we do, in a real sense, cut them off from giving. This does not mean we are to be persons of selfishness and ego. We are not to be proud and puffed up. In humility, we must strive to foster love and kindness in others. Sometimes, accepting compliments and praise without rejecting the compliments and praise, does foster love and kindness. Accepting gestures from others with grace and dignity with a simple "Thank you" can open the door for us to show others how much we love them and accept them in return.
