There are a million dark messages sent out every day by our culture and the media representing our culture. Even devout believers, who at one time might have been appalled by blatant ungodliness in the world, have begun to adjust and are no longer shocked, outraged, or appalled. Living a holy and righteous life for God does matter to God and to the world. Even in the middle of overt attacks by the darkness, you must live a holy and righteous life. If you look at the big pulleys and gears in a large piece of machinery, the pulleys and gears attach to a small shaft. The pulleys and gears attached to the small shaft are kept on the shaft by a little pin. Most people would overlook the pin (cotter key or set screw) because of the pin's small size. Without the pin, the pulley and shaft would not connect to the shaft. Without the pin, big machinery would not operate. In the same way, you are a pin for Christ in the world. When you are righteous and holy you are Christ's pin keeping His work going in the world.
