About sacrifice and self-discipline�

1 Peter 1:18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (NIV)

In the Christian faith, when there is no sacrifice, there is only show business and hypocrisy. If we are not willing to make a sacrifice, but instead yield to our sinful human nature, we lose as a person, our church loses, and our faith loses. Victory in our faith or victory in our life requires self-discipline in order to make the sacrifices necessary to be victorious. Sacrifice and lack of self-discipline are opposites. Sacrifice and grabbing what we want are opposites. To be able to live a victorious life, we must sacrifice in the way we live and work. To be able to live a victorious life in our faith requires we have self-discipline to sacrifice our life for Christ.
