A Daily Devotional

About selling yourself short:

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (NIV)

Selling yourself short or putting yourself down is equivalent to feeding yourself rotten spiritual food. When you think poorly of yourself you twist up your heart in hurtful ways. Putting yourself down is a form of distorted selfishness.

We are children of God. We carry God in the form of the Holy Spirit within us. We carry His kingdom within us. To put yourself down, is to put down a wonderful creation put upon this earth by God. We are all mistake-ridden sinners. However, putting yourself down is no way to fix this condition of selfishness. To denigrate yourself is to make the condition of sin and the sin problem worse than the sin problem needs to be. We cannot turn away from the dark influence of Satan if we continually feed Satan's influence back to ourselves. Look up and see Christ reaching out to you. Take His hand and enjoy the new you. When you become a new person in Christ then the old person within you does not exist. When you accept Christ into your life, the old person within you is gone. See yourself as you really are..a new person in Christ Jesus.
