About the shining light of the good:

Psalms 4:6 Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord. (NIV)

If we read or watch the news we can see plenty of darkness in the world. News editors make sure the dark or bad news is reported. The bad and the worst often seem to be winning in the world even without a news report. More and more, sin and unrighteousness seem to have made in-roads into the hearts of the masses. If we did not have any faith, we could easily believe the darkness has won out over the Light, and goodness is diminishing hour by hour.

In the darkness of the world, Christ provides each of us a shining light of love and grace. In the darkness of this world, Christ will fill your heart with His immaculate joy. In your personal life lived out before God, the darkness has no power when Christ's love and light are shining within you.

When you love God, He loves you back. When God loves you back, no news report, no matter how bad, can change your basic inner joy and happiness. When you love God, the dark power of the world is cast aside like the trash the darkness surely is.
