About sin recognized for what it is
Romans 7:13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. (NIV)
Sin presents itself as something other than what sin really is. If sin presented itself in a full and honest way, no one would sin. If sin was recognized for what sin really is, no one would sin because everyone would see how sin leads to death. Sin depends upon deception, lies, half-truths, and obfuscation. To battle against sin in our life we must recognize sin for what sin isa death trap. Every sin leads to some form of spiritual or physical death. Sin, by its nature, cannot produce any kind of good in any person. Certainly, sin may appear to be good on the surface. Sin may even appear to be godly on the surface. However, we must be willing to look at our life, our attitudes, our behaviors, and our faith because sin can pollute all we say, think, do, and believe. When we begin to see the sin component in our life, we begin to free ourselves of the darkness because we have begun to bring into our heart the light and love of God.
