About staying close to God
John 15:10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. (NIV)
We do not often think about God drawing lines or having boundaries. When we think of God, we think of someone really big or infinite. Yet, here is Jesus speaking about a boundary line. The boundary line is not like a line on a football field or basketball court but the line serves the same purpose. On a basketball court you can only play inside the out-of-bounds lines. With God, the lines are his commands on how to live out a godly and devout life. When we stay within Gods boundary lines, we stay within His love. When we get outside of His boundary lines, we are outside of His love. This truth is very simple. What is not so simple is staying inside those invisible lines. However, God has infinite patience with us. If we truly want to remain in His love He is kind and gracious. He will forgive us an unlimited number of times if His commands are written on our heart and life.
