A Daily Devotional

About striving to live a perfect life

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. (NIV)

Of course we can't live a perfect life. No matter how hard we try, we cannot achieve perfection in all we say, think, and do. We are plagued by mistakes, failings, and sinfulness. So what should we do? Should we just give up and live a life of sin, mistakes, and failure? Should we give up and live in darkness with no regret, remorse, or guilt? No, all of us must strive mightily to live a perfect life. Just because we cannot reach the goal does not mean we must not strive to reach the goal. We must strive for a life of spiritual perfection because our very desire to reach the goal of perfection produces in us and in our world a more perfect Christ-like life. God sees our heart. He knows what we desire. From our desires will flow God's richest blessings. From our repentant heart flows His great eraser erasing our multitude of sins, mistakes, and failures.
