About thinking and absorbing:
Matthew 4:16 the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." (NIV)
We are immersed in data. In our scientific age, we are bombarded by images and information. We are surrounded by knowledge. We are surrounded by opportunities to think, learn, observe, and grow. However, what if we do not take advantage of any of our opportunities? What if we never think or we absorb very little of our Lord's creation? What does Christ feel when one of His flock wanders off in selfishness or self-absorption while ignoring the Lord's creation and all God's little ones?
Christ is grieved when we are caught up in selfishness or self-absorption. Christ is deeply grieved when any of us live or exist in any kind of selfishness. When we are in pain, Christ wants us to think and learn about Him from our pain. When we hurt, we are to take our hurt to Christ. If we fully surrender our life to Christ, we can then begin to think and absorb His love in every circumstance, even our circumstances of darkness. Look around you. Look within yourself. Look at your life. When the dark times roll in and attack, there is the tendency to become an unthinking, unfeeling, untouchable zombie of the darkness. However, when you begin to absorb the light of Christ, you will not be a zombie of the darkness any longer. When you absorb the light and love of Christ and others, you are no longer living in darkness but in the Light.
